Who Am I?
I'm a writer, but had it not been for a tragedy, my dad, and Clive Cussler, my life may have taken a different path.
When I was 14, a friend of mine decided to make my life a bit more interesting than it already was, to that point anyway. He accomplished this by breaking my knee. Quite accidentally and with no malice intended, I assure you. Nonetheless, until that day, I was a competitive runner and that incident put an end to ever doing it again. My knee was shattered, and so -- I thought -- were my dreams
The summer wore on and I lie in bed, recovering, with nothing but Harlequin Romance novels for company. One day, my dad walked in to check up on me, saw the books strewn across my blankets, then turned and strolled out. All without a word. He returned soon after and tossed a book on my lap and said, "You need to broaden your reading horizons", then turned and left again. The book? Iceberg by Clive Cussler. That day, I fell in love with the written word, and Dirk Pitt became my ideal hero. It was also then that I decided I wanted to entertain readers also, and so my life's ambitions were altered.
When I type 'the end', it's like being paroled from prison."
